Academic Preschool Teacher & assistant teacher

The years between 3 and 5 are some of the most formative of a child's life. We're looking for teachers who know that and show up accordingly.

Who We Are

Leap'n Learners is the academic preschool program at Expressions Dance and Preschool. Curriculum here is intentional, learning is joyful, and every child is genuinely known. Standards are high because children are counting on us.

Our core values: Safety. Love. Kindness. Empathy. Courage. Responsibility. Good Manners. We're not just teaching letters and numbers — we're shaping whole people.

We've been at this since 2007. Families stay because we follow through on what we promise.

LEAD TEACHER:

Lead academic teacher for classes of 3/4 and 4/5 year olds. School runs September through May.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Delivering hands-on, age-appropriate curriculum across language, math, science, literacy, music, fine arts, dance, and tumbling

  • Building genuine relationships with every child in your class and knowing them well

  • Communicating regularly and clearly with families about their child's progress

  • Managing your classroom proactively and with confidence

  • Contributing to performances throughout the year including the Holiday Performance, Tumbling Exhibition, and Recital

  • Working closely with the School Director and fellow teachers to maintain a consistent, high-quality program

You're a Great Fit If You:

  • Have experience teaching or working with children ages 2 to 5

  • Have a clear teaching philosophy and can explain it confidently

  • Know how to manage a classroom proactively, before behavior becomes a problem

  • Communicate regularly and clearly with families

  • Love curriculum design and making learning hands-on

  • Are patient, nurturing, and consistent — the same every day, for every child

  • Take your professional development seriously and are always looking to grow

ASSISTANT TEACHER

Classroom support for our lead teachers and students. This is a great entry point for someone who loves young children, is considering a career in early childhood education, or wants to grow into a lead role over time. School runs September through May.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting the lead teacher in daily curriculum and classroom activities

  • Building warm, consistent relationships with students

  • Helping maintain a safe, organized, and positive classroom environment

  • Assisting with transitions, small groups, and one-on-one support as needed

  • Participating in performances and studio events throughout the year

You're a Great Fit If You:

  • Genuinely enjoy being around young children and have some experience working with them

  • Are reliable, calm, and easy to work with

  • Take direction well and look for ways to be helpful without being asked

  • Are interested in growing as an educator

  • Bring warmth and patience into everything you do

This Probably Isn't for You If:

You see preschool as babysitting. If classroom management feels uncertain or uncomfortable. If parent communication is something you avoid rather than lean into. This role carries real responsibility and we need someone who feels that weight and rises to it.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting at $15-20/hour based on experience and qualifications.

Additional benefits include:

  • Professional development support

  • Retirement plan access

  • A close-knit, well-run team that takes early childhood education seriously
